As we approach the beginning of a new school year we want to make sure you stay up-to-date with all the exciting sporting opportunities at Mount Maunganui Intermediate.

Where to Find Sports Information
We share all sports-related updates in multiple places to keep you well-informed. Be sure to check:
● The MMI Daily Notices – you will need to download the Edge App for this.
● The School Newsletter
● Emails (check your junk mail folder to ensure you don’t miss any important communication)
● Our Facebook page

Communication Hours
I strive to maintain clear and timely communication with all students and parents. I am also a part time classroom teacher so will respond at my earliest convenience. Should you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to me directly at:
● Email: sports@mtint.school.nz
● Phone: 027 346 7963

Deadlines for Sports Registrations
Timely registration is essential for the smooth organisation of sporting teams and activities. Deadlines for all sports registrations are final and unfortunately we can’t extend the cut-off dates. Please ensure that your child is registered on time to avoid missing out on any opportunities.

Payments for Sports Activities
To participate in sports activities, all fees must be paid before the activity begins. If you need to arrange a payment plan, please contact Karen at the school office (admin@mtint.school.nz) or call during office hours to make these arrangements.

Sports Notices
All sports-related announcements are read out during the MMI Daily Notices, which are accessible via the edge app. These notices provide updates about meetings, trials, and practices. We encourage students to show independence and self-manage by attending meetings and practices without being reminded. All registration and consent forms are sent through as a google form.

Sports Office
The Sports Office is located in the school hall. Students are welcome to drop by if they have any questions or need further assistance with sports-related matters. There is a timetable on the sports office door of when I am available.

Commitment to Team Sports
Participating in team sports provides valuable life skills, including commitment, teamwork, and social development. Through sports, children learn how to cooperate, listen to others, and develop a sense of belonging. These experiences not only foster physical growth but also support emotional and social maturity. Please ensure your child is well-prepared and supported to start their chosen sport on a positive note.

Coaches and Managers
A big thank you to those who volunteer to coach and manage teams. We always have teams that need coaches and managers, so if you’re interested or know someone who might be, please get in touch. This is also a wonderful opportunity for senior students to give back to the school community.

Teachers in Charge of Sports
We are fortunate to have many dedicated teachers supporting our students in sports. Below are the Teachers in Charge (TICs) for Term 1 sports. Please reach out to the TIC for any sport-specific questions, also feel free to contact me if further assistance needed:

What is Super 11?
Super 11 is a collaborative sporting group in the Bay of Plenty and Poverty Bay. It is a sporting initiative that brings together 11 intermediate schools from the Bay of Plenty and Poverty Bay regions. This group, which includes MMI (Mount Maunganui Intermediate), offers students the opportunity to represent their schools in a variety of sports.
The majority of Super 11 sports events take place on Fridays, providing an exciting and competitive environment for students to showcase their skills. To be selected for a Super 11 team, students may first go through a trial process where coaches and selectors choose the most talented athletes to represent their school in different sports.
