Because of the rapidly changing times, our tamariki are growing up in and, the mounting challenges and harms they are facing online we need to start talking about and tackling this as a community. As such, we have organised Author, Filmmaker and Speaker Rob Cope, producer of the documentary “Our Kids Online” to come and give what promises to be a humorous and eye-opening evening talk to our parent community. On Monday 24th July Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty, Te Whatu Ora Vision Technicians will be visiting yourchild’s school to carry out routine distance vision screening.All students in year seven are included as part of the National Screening Programme.If your child is absent on this day (or any catch up date) they will be tested the following year, as a yeareight student.The screening test used is for distance vision only. It is not a full eye examination. If you have concernsabout your child’s close vision, please book an appointment with an Optometrist.The test is conducted by the student covering

Today, Friday 2nd June, The band Four40 performed at this weeks assembly. Four40 is made up of staff members at MMI who are always ready to perform in front of the school. The teachers, Mr Higgins, Matua Shan, Matua Tia, Whaea Tara and Miss Faye all come together at morning teas and lunchtimes to rehearse for their yearly performance at our school. Their performance was amazing as they sang New Zealand hits and made it fun for the audience. They all played an instrumental part in this performance and played a variety of songs. On the 1st of June 2023 Mount Maunganui Intermediate had our school cross country, a day of running and fun down at our beautiful local beach. Decked out in colours and representing their houses, the students of MMI were ready to run like the wind. Our school had great participation, positive mindsets and amazing support towards each other. Parents and teachers encouraged and cheered on all the kids, making it a great day for everyone alike. Check out the awesome photos below. Our school recently held an ANZAC Day assembly, which was organized by our Head Students – Belle, Will, Evie, and Ariki. The assembly was a solemn occasion to honor the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. We were privileged to have a special guest, D’Arcy Bailey, a veteran from the New Zealand Army, who shared his personal experiences and insights about the conflicts that New Zealand has been involved in. D’Arcy’s talk was incredibly moving, and he recited a beautiful poem called ‘Why Wear a Poppy’, which highlighted the significance of ANZAC Day. The

This programme is designed to equip our students with the knowledge, tools, and mindset they need to thrive in every area of their lives. We understand the importance of promoting and protecting Mental Wellbeing among our students, and this program allows us to do just that. 2022 has been a positive and productive year at Mount Maunganui Intermediate. As I reflect on the year, it is clear that we have achieved a lot in a year filled with ongoing challenges in a COVID world and theassociated challenges with attendance, anxiety and an ever-changing landscape.
