Indoor Bowls

This game is proving popular with our students, especially those who do not play a contact sport. We run lunchtime sessions to teach this game and to improve their knowledge and skills so they can complete in local competitions.

An Elite Indoor Bowls tournament is held locally in early term 2 with intermediate schools from the Bay of Plenty/ Poverty Bay area. The students play Pairs, in their year levels.

A Pre Aims Games tournament, which is run by the Tauranga Indoor Bowls Association, is held in August.

Training for the AIMS Games in September is ongoing. Students will be expected to commit to trainings to prepare themselves as best they can for this national tournament. A commitment to join the Junior Club or an adult club is expected so the students get plenty of practice. We train at school during one lunch time per week and at the RSA on Friday afternoons (in term 3).

Costs for the Elite competition are approx. $8.  AIMS Games fees are approx. $70.00. The Pre Aims Games tournament approx. $8. There would be additional costs for any other tournaments played and for joining a local club. These are very reasonable.

Coaching and Team Management

Outside coaches assist our students from time to time. Any parents with bowling skills, your assistance would be appreciated. Parental transport assistance is required at times.
