Kia Ora
I am a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Arts Therapist with over twenty years experience working with children, adolescents and families. I am excited to be joining Mount Maunganui Intermediate as part of the team supporting students. I specialise in providing therapeutic support using the arts as the language of expression and exploration. This means using the creative arts such as visual arts, poetry, movement and music as a way to express emotions and communicate thoughts and feelings. Creativity and imagination enhances wellbeing and helps process and resolve problems.
As well as experience working in schools, I have worked in mental health, social development, kaupapa Maori and health organisations.
I look forward to being able to support and connect with students, caregivers and staff as the need arises.
