ICAS & Kiwi Testing

At Mount Maunganui Intermediate, we offer two academic competitions for students who want to challenge themselves: ICAS and Kiwi.

ICAS

ICAS is a globally recognised academic competition that has been taken by over 10 million students from 16,000 schools across 41 countries since 1981. Designed by education experts, ICAS challenges students with engaging, higher-order thinking questions across a range of subjects. It recognises academic performance in the same way sports and the arts celebrate achievement.

Kiwi

Kiwi is a new academic competition at MMI, run by the Centre of Assessment and Monitoring (CAM) at the University of Canterbury. This competition provides another great opportunity for students to test their skills in an academic setting.

Key Information

• These tests are not compulsory—students must sign up to participate.
• Testing is completed online during school hours, with students being taken out of their regular class programme.
• Both competitions are user-pays, meaning students must cover the cost of each test they wish to sit.
