At MMI, we understand the importance of transparency when it comes to costs associated with any sport or EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom) activity.
For our NZ AIMS Games fees, the money that we collect covers various aspect essential to delivering a memorable and smoothly run week of sport. For 2024 we have calculated a generic cost for all students per event of $140*. This fee doesn’t cover all of the costs associated with the AIMS Games, with the shortfall covered by Mount Maunganui Intermediate. Our school does not generate any profit from the AIMS Games.
The break down of the 2024 fee is below.
Entry Fee: This fee is set by NZ AIMS Games administrators and ensures that participating schools have access to all the facilities and resources needed for this tournament. We have added $4 onto this cost because some of our codes have less students then the team quota.
Opening Ceremony Ticket: The opening ceremony is also covered in MMI’s fee and once again the cost of this is set by the AIMS organisation. Our students really enjoy this event and being part of it as a school sets up our team for the week of sport.
Uniform and Equipment Charge: MMI includes a small uniform and equipment fee. The uniform charge covers the production, upkeep, and distribution of our uniform as well as the purchasing of new uniforms for more specialist sporting codes. The equipment charge covers any sporting equipment that is needed for various codes.
Administration Costs: With a team of over 300 students, 26 staff and numerous parent coaches/managers, there are a number of incidental costs. These includes staffing costs (relievers, petrol, and opening ceremony tickets), school vehicle expenses, school admin costs, first aid supplies, as well as gifts for coaches and managers. We do everything we can to reduce these costs and keep our overall expenses as low as possible.
It is important to note that MMI operates on a user pays system for the AIMS Games. Students and parents chose to take part in AIMS, and therefore they are required to pay the $140 fee.
Payment of this fee directly contributes to the success and sustainability of competing in NZAIMS Games.
* Some codes that require a referee, or have a different entry fee rather than the $80 fee set by AIMS Games, may have a different overall fee. There is also a slightly different cost for those students competing in more than one event because a second/third Opening Ceremony ticket and some of the administration costs are not needed to be paid twice.
