MMMI students Lillian Akagi and Mia Labone have won second place in Toi,  New Zealand’s largest annual wearable arts competition for schools. Lillian and Mia say the inspiration for their piece named Crazy Art ‘was to go on the crazy side of things “We wanted to incorporate the visual arts by using everyday art supplies, like if you were a seamstress you use buttons, if you were a painter you use paintbrushes everyday. Mount Maunganui students have completed their 2022 Science Fair projects. The Science Fair gives students the opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), and be challenged to connect concepts learned in the classroom with the real world. Special thanks to teachers Wendy Tuck and Kate Flanagan who have spent hours help students complete their projects.

Mount Maunganui are the Winners of the Bay of Plenty Showquest 2022! We are so proud! Congratulations to all of the students involved and a huge thanks to Miss Fahy and Mrs McKenzie for all of their hard work to get this show ready. The Mathematics focus for term 2 was on ‘Statistics’. Students completed a snapshot at the beginning ofthe term. This information enabled teachers to find aspects that they could target during the teaching and learning for the term. We have spent the term learning about aspects such as collecting, displaying and interpreting data. We then completed a similar snapshot to see how much progress each student had made. As a staff, we have intentionally focussed on using data to inform our teaching. We will use this data tofurther identify areas that we need to focus on to ensure our learners reach
